Ras Qasabah - KSA Temporary Fixed Jetty
Executive Summary
In 2023, the Ras Qasabah Temporary Fixed Jetty Project was executed on Shushah Island, Ras Qasabah, for NEOM. The project involved the design optimization and construction support of a temporary fixed jetty to facilitate early construction works on the island. The jetty played a critical role in enabling the safe and efficient loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, equipment, and personnel, ensuring uninterrupted progress of the island’s development activities.
Project Description
The project scope included the development and engineering support of a temporary fixed steel jetty, designed to serve logistics and operational needs during the early construction phase. Key aspects of the project included:
Construction of a temporary fixed jetty for material, equipment, and staff transfer
Use of approximately 2,000 tons of structural steel
Redesign of the platform steel connections to improve constructability and structural performance
Preparation of detailed method statements to guide safe and efficient execution
Preparation of shop drawings using Tekla Structures
Quality control and site supervision to ensure compliance with design, safety, and project standards
Client Challenge
The main challenge was delivering a reliable temporary marine structure under tight timelines and remote island conditions, while ensuring structural integrity, constructability, and strict quality and safety standards to support heavy construction logistics.
